Widow, Alice Dampah hails from Gomoa Fete in the Central Region of Ghana. She has been crying all the time as all means of getting funds for her son’s surgery has been unsuccessful.
Her son, 31 year old Abraham Dampah is currently on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, and is suffering from brain damage. He needs to undergo a neuro surgery estimated at twenty two thousand, eight hundred Ghana cedis to avoid advance brain damage.
The old widow says her son’s sickness began with mere fever so he was given traditional medication at home. She said the fever worsened with time so she took him to the Apam Hospital where he was later referred to the Winneba Hospital for further treatment. “When I took him to the Winneba Hospital, he started experiencing eye problems. The fever also kept advancing with time so the doctors at the facility advised I take him to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital”. She told crimecheckghana.
At the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the poor woman says, her son was taken through an initial surgery where doctors took out unwanted liquid in the head. “I together with family members struggled to raise money for the surgery which was successful. Later, the doctor informed me that my son has to undergo another surgery which will cost twenty two thousand, eight hundred Ghana cedis”.
The mother of four says she sells kenkey for a living and has no hope of raising the said amount for the surgery. She added that she has informed her church leaders of her predicament. “My church leaders say they are working towards it so when the time is due, I will hear from them”.
Madam Dampah says she feels sad and cries when she sees his son on the hospital bed suffering and there is no hope of raising the amount for the surgery.
Crime Check Foundation CCF on behalf of the widow is appealing to the public to help Abraham Dampah go through the neuro surgery successfully.
