A US-based Muslim Group, Amaana Foundation in collaboration with Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has donated assorted items to Muslim inmates of the Winneba Local Prison as part of the Eid-Ul- Fitr celebrations.
The Quran entreats Muslims to give support to the needy or the less privileged in society.
The Ramadan fasting is a holy period where Muslims believe that their prayers are answered by Allah and he sends blessings on them and it is also accompanied with acts of kindness. The donation, according to the group forms part of their religious obligation to support the poor, needy, underprivileged and other disadvantaged groups who find themselves on the fringes of society.
In view of this, the Muslim Group together with its partner, CCF thought of their fellow Muslims, who are unfortunately in the prison.
Miss Suzzy Konadu, the Administrator of CCF presenting the items to the inmates on behalf of the Foundation said “their environment should not deny them the joy of the festivity but rather the love of Allah should be extended to them in moments like this.”
She said to enable the inmates have the feel of the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration, they were provided with bags of rice, gallons of oil, boxes of biscuits, assorted soft drinks and boxes of tin tomatoes.
The rest are boxes of frozen chicken, basket of onions and spices to be used to prepare sumptuous foods, which they are not fed with in the prison on this special day.
DSP Francis Bosomtwe, who received the items on behalf of the Officer In Charge said, the Muslim inmates are extremely grateful to Management of CCF and the Amaana Foundation for their kind gesture.
“May Allah continue to bless you,” he added.
An inmate commended the partners for their continuous support of inmates of the Prison, especially on the celebration of Eid-UL-Fitr. He also prayed for the donors, asking for Allah’s blessing for them.
