The days of suffering appears to have come to an end for struggling poor street hawker Enoch Appiah Agyei as Crime Check Foundation CCF surprises him with a huge amount of money.
The father of three who hails from Dobeng in the Central Region of Ghana tells crimecheckghana how he and his family have had to survive daily on his sale of car dusters on the streets of Accra for the past ten years.
40year old Appiagyei says he is an orphan who is struggling to make ends meet in life. “My parents passed away at an early age so I have been selling to cater for myself and my family. My wife who used to assist me is also not healthy now so I am the only one supporting the family now”. He tells crimecheckghana.
The hardworking man says he started his car duster business with an amount of one hundred and twenty Ghana cedis which is equivalent to twenty one US Dollars, could buy a few dusters, because he could not afford to buy the whole set estimated at six hundred Ghana cedis.
Life, he said has been very difficult for him and his family as they depend on twenty Ghana cedis as upkeep for the day. “My wife makes sure she spends ten cedis on the children and use the remaining money to provide food for the whole family in the evening”. He said.
To support industrious persons on the streets, a group based in Italy Mfantseman Kuw, through CCF gave the street hawker six hundred Ghana cedis as trading capital for his car duster business. Enoch cried uncontrollably as he received the cash donation and showed so much appreciation to the group.
After CCF shared the story of this struggling duster seller on its social media platforms, it touched the hearts of many who decided to show kindness to him by donating cash gifts to help alleviate his plight.
From CCF’s 44 donors, an amount of nineteen thousand Ghana cedis has been donated to the poor father who had no idea of ever getting such an amount of money in his lifetime.
Appiagyei who was visibly overwhelmed with joy, cried his heart out and nearly fainted when he received the donation. With tears in his eyes, he showed his utmost appreciation to all his donors and prayed to God to bless them always. “All I can say is may God richly bless them and make them great”.
Appiagyei’s wife, Serwaa who also couldn’t control her tears told crimecheckghana that she has restricted the children to eating one particular food due to poverty since she feels it is the cheapest they can afford. “I always give them banku and promise to cook rice for them one day when things get better”. The teary mother said.
Serwaa also expressed her profound gratitude to CCF and all its donors for the great surprise and sacrifice they have made for them.
CCF’s Street Charity Series which seeks to empower street vendors and assist them with livelihood support to enable them live in dignity, will be launched soon.
