35-year-old Akwasi Ntow’s wife has abandoned him after he became paralyzed. His efforts to seek medical care to get back on his feet has been unsuccessful because of financial difficulties.
Narrating his ordeal, Ntow said he fell while he was on his way to work, and his friends helped him back home but only to be paralyzed the following day.
“When I was brought home and I told my wife about it she made fun of me, and left for work. When she came back the next day I was completely paralyzed.” He told crimecheckghana.
“She left with our children and went to rent a room. The older child who was with me also did not respect me because of my condition.” He cried.
Ntow said he was referred to the 37 Military Hospital after doctors at Mampong Government hospital where he visited earlier told him he has clots in his brain. He said because of financial difficulties, he has not been able to go to the 37 Military hospital for further treatment.
“A friend gave me Two Thousand Ghana Cedis to enable me undergo tests at the Mampong hospital. The doctors referred me to specialists at the 37 Military hospital assuring me that I would get back on my feet but there is no money for me to go. I now depend on my sister and her husband for my upkeep.” He said.
Ntow’s sister, Obaa Yaa said it has been very ifficult taking care of him especially buying items to keep him clean.
Akwasi Ntow pleaded with the public to support his sister to enable her take care of him because he survives on her savings.
Crime Check Foundation, CCF gave Ntow Five Hundred Ghana Cedis through one of its Germany based group donors – Ghanaians in Leuven for his upkeep as it counts on the support of the public to further come to his aid.
