A former drug dealer, Sheila Awinpoka Ayebo is seeking help after serving a two-year sentence in a Turkish prison.
She was jailed for attempting to traffic marijuana into Turkey.
Madam Ayebo was busted at a Turkish airport and was made to face imprisonment.
This happened when her father, a US-based doctor had taken her from Ghana to live with him in the States.
Speaking to crimecheckghana.org, Madam Ayebo indicated that her father intended to save her from a psychotic condition she suffered.
“I had a mental condition and my dad wanted to keep me away from the ridicule of the Ghanaian public,” she said.
She appeared to be haunted by illusions.
The ex-convict claimed he had faced two lawsuits by his father at the tender age of 5 due to some strange behaviours she exhibited.
She claimed that when she got to the US, her condition improved swiftly to the envy of relatives and friends who called for her deportation.
“I was performing poorly in school due to my condition when I was in Ghana but when I went abroad I picked up quickly. I was able to read a whole book in under ten minutes. I come from Bawku in the Upper East Region but I was born in Accra. I left Ghana in 2000 at age 16,” the Accra-born-US citizen claimed.
She said since then, she has been at loggerheads with her father.
Enrolled in a University and not performing well despite her reading ability, her father threatened to stop paying her fees and making her face deportation.
Madam Ayebo claimed she was pushed to deal in drugs after a colleague lured her with the amount of money she would make.
“I hid the drug in my bag trying to take it to Turkey,” she recounted.
She said the Turkish authorities arrested her and imprisoned her for two years and nine months.
Recounting her prison experience, she said ‘fellow inmates, a Kenyan girl, and a Turkish lady wanted to rape me. Others were casting spells on me,” she said.
Sheila is now seeking help to get over her condition. She pleads with the general public to offer their support by any means possible.
