5-year-old Olivia Atesom and 6-year-old Zilpah Akrofi Obenewaa need urgent hole-in-heart life-saving surgeries to survive.
Olivia requires Six Thousand dollars (equivalent of Thirty-Four Thousand Five Hundred and Forty-one Ghana cedis) whiles Zilpah needs Seven Thousand dollars to enable them undergo treatment.
Getting Medical Care
Father of Olivia Atesom, Mr Akatamo told crimecheckghana that her daughter’s condition started right from birth and he has since been struggling to get her proper medical treatment with the little income he makes from his farm.
“Since my daughter was born 5 years ago, she has been falling sick. We sent her to the hospital and she was diagnosed of hole-in-heart. Though she underwent oxygen compression treatment, her condition persisted so we sent her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.” He said.
The poor plantain farmer said after spending his savings on initial treatment for her daughter, it has become a hurdle for him to raise Thirty-Four Thousand Five Hundred and Forty-One Ghana cedis demanded by doctors at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital for her dying daughter to undergo surgery.
“The doctors referred us to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital where we were told we needed $ 6,000 and 4 units of blood to enable her undergo treatment. So I called you to help me raise the money and the units of blood which I have been struggling to buy.” He said.
Meanwhile, Zilpah’s mother could only shed tears as she appealed for support for her daughter.
A referral letter from the National Cardiothoracic Centre confirmed that one of little Zilpah’s ‘’heart valves mitral valve is severely defective’’.
CCF’s intervention
Crime Check Foundation, CCF is appealing to the public to support the poor man to get medical aid for her daughter to save her life.
The Health Check Series is used to solicit support for sick individuals to get medical attention.
