The Nsoatre police in the Sunyani West District of the Bono Region police have arrested six armed robbers for allegedly robbing a driver at gunpoint.
Reports indicate that the suspects made away with an amount of One Thousand Ghana cedis, mobile phones among other personal items.
The oldest among them is 25 years old while the ages of the others ranged between 16 and 19.
They were accused of pulling a locally manufactured gun on a 43-year-old driver who was driving a black KIA Picanto car with trade plate number, DP 7412-22 and robbed him of his money, itel and Infinix phones, a black polish, and a shaving machine when his car developed a fault at about 9:50 pm off the Nsoatre-Berekum Highway near the Roman Catholic Church last Friday.
The victim told the Nsoatre police that the suspects attacked him while he was relaxing in his car when it had developed a fault. He said the suspects pulled out a locally manufactured gun on him and threatened to kill him should he refuse to surrender the items.
He said he raised an alarm, which led to their arrest with the help of community members after they took his phones, money, and other items.
The police officers together with the complainant were dispatched to the scene where the complainant identified Agyeiwaa Isabella and Edmond Asare as part of the gang and the suspects were rounded up.
They have since been detained separately, pending further investigations.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has been cautioning the general public against acts that could land them into trouble.
CCF has introduced programmes including the latest ‘Stay Away From Trouble’ as part of its crime prevention advocacy project. The Foundation screens one-on-one interviews with prison inmates bringing to bear acts that landed them into prison and the difficulties they face in custody.
It has paid the fines of many petty offenders for their release.
