Two new mothers who gave birth at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, 33-year-old Grace Adu and 24-year-old Georgina Ama held by the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital for their inability to pay their medical bills after delivery have been freed to go home.
These mothers though were discharged from the hospital after delivery could not go home until Crime Check Foundation (CCF) went to their rescue.
Grace Adu said she was transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital when she started experiencing pregnancy complications in the last month of the pregnancy.
She said doctors at the hospital recommended that she undergoes an urgent Caesarian Section (CS) to avert any possible anomalies during normal delivery.
The mother of a set of male twins indicated that ‘doctors asked me to fasten my children around me to give them warmth because they were born pre-mature.’
One of CCF’s Canada-based group donors, Ghanaian Women Aglow supported her to enable her to pay her ‘revolving’ fee.
According to Georgina, she was rushed to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal hospital when she found out that the baby was forcing itself out of her.
She said she was later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital but after a week of delivery, her child is still on oxygen to be able to survive.
“My husband has been struggling to buy drugs for our baby. Even now we were supposed to buy some prescribed drugs but there is no money,” she stated.
A CCF California-based group donor, California Classic ladies gave her relief after supporting her.
Grace and Georgina thanked the donors for coming to their aid. “We are grateful for the support. We pray for long life and prosperity for you so that you continue to help others,” they prayed.
