Hopes of becoming a soldier appears to have come alive for 18year old Mustapha Kanya as Crime Check Foundation supports him to go through his first year Senior High School education.
In an interview with crimecheckghana, Mustapha said he lost his father when he was an infant and his mother fell also ill when he was 3years. “I was one year six months old when my dad passed away and my mum fell ill when I was three years old so she was taken to a village far away to receive treatment. For 15years now, I have been staying with my grandmother”. He said.
The young man further revealed that he has been taking up petty jobs to take care of himself through school since her mother left. He added that he sometimes have to miss school just to work so that he can get his daily meals. “Few times my grandmother gives me money, but mostly I help carry blocks at construction sites or sell coconut to get money to buy basic items I need for school and my upkeep”. He told crimecheckghana.
The now hopeful Mustapha said after completing Junior High School, he was determined to further his education so he continued to labour, but the income was nothing to write home about. “Sometimes, people do not give me money for the work I do for them but excuses. I become so sad knowing that my parents are not available and I am facing financial difficulties”.
CCF through its donors have come to the aid of Mustapha by providing him with a trunk, student mattress, stationeries, toiletries, provisions and some amount of money amongst others for his upkeep.
Mustapha Kanya expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for supporting him to begin his first year at the senior high school and appealed to Ghanaians to continually support him so that he can go further in his educational endeavor.
The CCF Educational Support Fund is aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students who find it difficult to pay their school fees because of financial challenges
