A man in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region has been found with the longest and biggest keloids.
The anonymous man supports the keloids which have covered his ears with his hands when he walks because it weighs him down.
“When the sun scorches it becomes very painful and when I am unable to hold it up any longer I have to sit down for a while.
He has undergone surgery to correct the condition but it has rather worsened.
“It was a reddish boil that started to develop abnormally after it was cut. I underwent surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but it could not stop the disease,” he said.
One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana cedis is needed to enable him to undergo surgery that will stop the growth.
According to a Kumasi-based doctor, Dr. Anas Adusei, the ailing man’s skin is allergic to cuts and it is because of that the keloids continue to enlarge.
“The man’s condition escalated because it was cut out. His skin is allergic to cuts so it degenerated into a serious condition,” he said.
Explaining further, Dr. Adusei said the affected man requires a specialist to be able to carry out advanced surgery on him to stop the anomalous growth.
“I am not a specialist in that area so I am looking for such a doctor. The specialist would be able to determine the appropriate treatment that would avert the condition,” he stated.
Dr. Anas Adusei advised the general public to desist from stigmatizing people with such weird conditions but instead assist them to get medical attention.
“I met him by the roadside with his face veiled in a cloth so that residents do not point fingers at him. People were afraid to go closer to him attributing his condition to spirituality. Some said he was a god whiles others said he was sent from the sea,
“Let’s help such people than demeaning them,”
The kind doctor asked for support for the man to enable him to get care.
“God will bless anybody who supports the dejected man to get cure,” he appealed.
Through its Health Check series, Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has been supporting struggling patients to get proper medical care.
