30 year old widow, Janet Avedanyi a resident of Kasoa Lamptey is stranded in life after her husband’s demise.
She said the responsibilities she has to shoulder for taking care of her two children have become a major problem for her. To make matters worse, she is also facing eviction by her landlord from a wooden structure in which she finds refuge.
According to Ms. Avedanyi, her husband poisoned himself because he couldn’t endure the hardship.
“According to the police, they saw a pesticide in my husband’s room. My husband couldn’t support me, so with the help of a neighbor, I travelled elsewhere to get cure when I fell ill four months after I gave birth. Whiles away, I was informed that he had poisoned himself.” She told crimecheckghana.
The troubled young widow said after her rent expired she couldn’t afford an extension so she was ejected from the house and had to seek shelter in an almost collapsed dusty wooden structure. She said the landlord of the structure has also threatened to evict her from the structure to make way for demolishing.
“The landlord threatened to eject me from the wooden structure to make way for the construction of shops. I had to beg him because I don’t have any support. The neighbor who supported me also fell sick and has travelled out of town so we are starving. I only need support for shelter.” She appealed.
The poor widow said she struggles to afford a three square meal for her children because her ‘pure water’ hawking business is profitless.
“I struggle to fend for my children with my “pure water” hawking business so I’m starving. I managed to take my child to the hospital when an animal in the dusty room bit her but I have not been able to get medical care after I was also bitten.” She cried.
Crime Check Foundation, CCF through two of its UK based donors, Irene Obiri Yeboah and Daddy Nakass gave her food items and an amount of Six Hundred and Ninety Ghana Cedis as business capital.
Avedanyi thanked CCF and the contributors. “God bless you and restore what you have contributed for me.” She prayed.
CCF is appealing to you to come to the aid of the poor widow to get a befitting accommodation and business to enable her cater for her children.
