Madam Helena Osae who has been sick for the past three years has passed on, after Crime Check Foundation shared her story last month. She left behind her 19 year old daughter, Mommie. The deceased lived in Aburi in the Eastern region of Ghana.
In an interview with the deceased, she told crimecheckghana that she used to fell woods to sell in other to raise money for the upkeep of herself and her daughter. It was on one of such occasions that she fell down and broke her legs and waist. After the incident, she was abandoned by her husband and family.
Madam Helena had been on our Foundation’s Health Check sponsorship until her painful departure. Her daughter, Mommie tells crimecheckghana, “my mother was fine until that fateful Friday evening” She said before her sudden departure, she was faring well and even asked that she gets her food to eat. “After she finished eating, she told me she wanted to sleep for a while. So I told her I was also going to get food to eat”, she said amid sobs.
She continued, “When I returned, my mother was struggling to breathe so I quickly run to her side to check what was happening to her. I couldn’t help it so I run out to call for help but when my family came in, they told me she was dead already!”
What appears intriguing is the way she was quickly buried without any certification by a doctor as it is usually done in some communities in the country.
The Executive Director of CCF, Mr. Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng was worried about the condition of the bereaved girl who has been left all alone. When asked what she wanted to do with her life now that her mother is no more, Mommie said she wants to learn sewing. Mr. Kwarteng assured her of the foundation’s support to realize her dreams.
