Crime Check Foundation, CCF through its donors has supported 30 year old Daniel Ameyaw to undergo surgery to remove a tumor that caused his jaw to swell.
Mr. Ameyaw threatened to commit suicide after his efforts to raise Twelve Thousand Ghana Cedis to enable him undergo the surgery proved futile.
In an interview with crimecheckghana, the young man said a boil sprouted in his teeth and caused his gum to swell. He said it eventually developed to affect his jaw making it enlarge. Daniel said he was diagnosed of gum tumor after visiting the hospital.
“One day I felt a sharp ache in my tooth gum so I thought it was whitlow (locally known as ‘kaka’) but when I went to the hospital, doctors said it was rather a strange tumor disease which could only be treated through surgery.” He said.
Ameyaw said he experienced agonizing pain when the tumor bleeds and stinking fluid oozes out of it through his mouth. He said because of that his bosses dismissed him. The seemingly helpless man said because of financial difficulties he had to come to live with his friend.
According to him, his effort to seek medical care was unsuccessful as the cost of the surgery increased given the severity of the ailment each time he visited the hospital.
After CCF intervened, with the support it garnered from its donors, Mr. Ameyaw is now relief of the pains as he has finally undergone successful surgery to remove the tumor.
A happy Ameyaw is steadily recovering as the ‘after surgery’ wounds are gradually healing and he will get full recovery after fixing back his teeth. On his behalf, his friend’s mother was most grateful for the support. “I thank all who have contributed to restore the lost hope of David. God bless you and replenish what you have lost through your contributions.” She said.
The Foundation is appealing to generous individuals to support Mr. Ameyaw to undergo his teeth fixing to get full recovery.
The Health Check Series is used to seek funding for poor individuals who cannot access healthcare because of financial constraints.
