A 39-year-old Fetish Priest is in Police custody for allegedly shooting a man in his testicles in a fight over a woman.
The incident happened on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Dwenewoho in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
The fight ensued when the victim, Kwasi Peter, 25, accused the suspect of sleeping with his wife.
Reports indicate that Peter confronted the priest after seeing him with his wife in compromising positions on several occasions.
“I never believed rumors about the affair between the priest and my wife until I saw the two going on errands on several occasions mostly around 11 PM in the night. I confronted him when my wife’s attitude confirmed her affair with the priest but he shot me in the process,” he narrated.
He added, ‘this is not the first time he’s sleeping with a married woman man, we have evidence of his acts in our community and so could not sit down for him to destroy my marriage.’
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect who is identified as Okomfo Raster shot the victim with a single barrel gun.
Peter is currently seeking treatment at the Mankranso Government Hospital, while the suspect is in the grip of the police assisting investigations.
Some youth who were infuriated by the incessant behaviour of the priest decided to burn down his house.
The Assembly Member of the area Emmanuel Kobi Tumfour who confirmed the incident said calm has however been restored in the community following the arrest of the priest.
CCF’s crime prevention advocacy
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has introduced programmes including the latest ‘Stay Away From Trouble’ as part of its crime prevention advocacy project.
Through these programmes CCF cautions the general public against acts that could land them in trouble in a bid to curb crime.
The Foundation screens one-on-one interviews with prison inmates bringing to bear acts that landed them into prison and the difficulties they face in custody.
It has also paid the fines of many petty offenders for their release.
