A young man who dressed in a police camouflage uniform and paraded himself as an officer has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
Hassan Avorgah was rather taken into custody when he arrested someone believed to be a criminal and sent him to the Holy Garden Police Station near Circle for detention.
Avorgah was carrying other police accouterment including a taser, a pair of handcuffs, a pouch, and two phones.
During a visit to his house at Berlin Bridge in Nima by the police, a pair of black police uniforms, a blue-black cardigan, security belts, a black round hat, and a picture frame belonging to him were found when a search was conducted.
The police in a statement shared on their social media, said the police through the vigilance of some of its officers arrested the suspect on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
The police said Avorgah is been held for impersonation and possession of Police uniform without lawful authority.
The police also indicated that investigation is currently ongoing to establish how the suspect came by the uniform, assuring the public that “the suspect will be put before the court to face justice.”
