A 52-year-old apple seller, Owusuaa Boatemaa has received a cash gift of Eight Hundred Ghana cedis to seek medical attention.
With support from its UK- donor, Maa Rita on behalf of her children, Crime Check Foundation (CCF) surprised her with the gift whiles she was going about her business.
She said though she is sick and has been advised by doctors to be admitted at the hospital for treatment, she still has to come to the street to sell. This is because she has no savings to enable her to pay for the treatment.
“I take the apple on credit at Two Hundred and Twenty Ghana cedis out of which I make Fifty Ghana cedis as my profit after selling everything. Sometimes it takes two or three days before I will be able to sell all the fruits to make a profit. Life has been hard,” she said.
“I went for a medical check-up and doctors wanted to admit me at the hospital but I refused. The reason is not that I do not want to be treated but I do not have money to pay the bills so I asked the doctors to allow me to sell and pay the bills in installments as and when I visit the hospital for treatment,” she added.
Madam Boatemaa expressed gratitude to the Foundation and the donor for helping her.
“God bless you and replace in double-fold what you have lost through this support,” she said.
The Street Charity Series is used to seek support for individuals who struggle to make ends meet on the street.
