To support the final funeral rites of the late Ghanaian footballer, Christian Atsu, Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has donated packs of drinking water, and assorted drinks among others to the family.
Atsu died on 18, February 2023.
The footballer was trapped under the wreckage of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6.
Ahead of his final funeral rites, a one-week observation was held on March 4, 2023.
He will be buried on March 17, 2023.
CCF donated 50 packs of bottled water, 20 cartons of carbonated drinks, and 100 pieces of Christian Atsu branded T-shirts.
“He was an epitome of humility even when he was not yet in the limelight. Therefore, the magnitude of people here to celebrate him is no surprise. He deserves it,” Mr. Kwarteng said.
The week-ceremony was well attended by football administrators, politicians, and former Black Stars players.
Some of them included the Minster for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Hamid, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, and former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah.
Others were Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari, Stephen Appiah, John Mensah, John Paintsil, and a host of other former Black Stars players.
The former Minister for Trade and Industry and Flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyeremanten was present to sympathize with Atsu’s family. He used the opportunity to sign the book condolence opened for the player.
Christian Atsu’s mortal remains arrived in Ghana on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
It was received by the family and a government delegation led by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in a brief ceremony
The funeral will be held at the forecourt of the state house.
