Crime Check Foundation, CCF as part of its Charity Series, has donated assorted unisex clothing and food items in addition to cash amounting to over Fifteen Thousand One Hundred and Seventy-Nine Ghana Cedis to HIV/AIDS patients at Ningo- Prampram in Greater Accra Region.
The items include forty pieces of wax prints, clothing and shoes, 50 bags of rice and 50 bottles of cooking oil. Each beneficiary received in addition to the items an amount of Two Hundred Ghana Cedis to support their businesses.
Presenting the items, the Executive Director of CCF, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng was unhappy that media attention HIV/AIDS patients has drastically reduced, attributing it to be part of the causes of deaths of many patients who suffered stigmatization. He used the opportunity to educate the beneficiaries on COVID-19 and encouraged them to have hope.
“It is unfortunate that journalists had left you out in their reportage during the Covid-19 period and it is part of the reasons we have come here to educate you. You have heard the alarming number of COVID-19 deaths. This should tell you how deadly the disease is. With most of you having underlying health conditions you should avoid contracting the Corona Virus. We will urge you to continue to wear nose masks everywhere you find yourself. Wash your hands regularly, sanitize when necessary and allocate part of your daily budget to take care of your health.” He advised.
Mr. Kwarteng who is also the ambassador extraordinaire of Prisons, said the donation is to complement government’s efforts to eradicate poverty, that is why the services of CCF is been extended to reach many people in deprived communities.
“We last visited Gomoa Mangoase because we have decided to extend our services out of Accra to various deprived towns. It is through our donors that we are embarking on this outreach to complement government’s efforts at reducing poverty. So we are appealing to you to also support our Charity Series to enable us reach as many deprived communities as possible.” He said.
In her welcome address, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Vivian Dora, on behalf of the beneficiaries and staff, thanked CCF and the donors for the gesture.
“On behalf everybody I want to thank you. We are overwhelmed by this kind gesture because it is unprecedented in this community. Usually the support goes to the big hospitals but we are privileged that an NGO like CCF has been concerned about our welfare. May God bless CCF and the donors.” She said.
