25 year old Meshach Wiafe requires Seven Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis to enable him undergo surgery to correct his damaged blood vein. Being the bread winner of his family, he struggles to make a living to be able to fend for the family because the ailment has rendered him redundant.
Meshach said he visited a nearby hospital at Offinso Boase where he lives after he realized that he was getting weak and unable to work for long hours. He said the doctors diagnosed him of heart complications and recommended that he undergoes surgery, so was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. “It got to a time I get very tired even when I work for short periods. When I went to the hospital, doctors made me undertake series of tests including Cardio therapy. It was revealed that my veins couldn’t pump blood to my heart. I was referred to Komfo Anokye to undergo surgery but the doctors demanded Seven Thousand Ghana Cedis before they would attend to me.” He told crimecheckghana.
The despaired young man said he is his family’s hope as he is the only child among his other five siblings who is in a tertiary institution. He said he struggles his way through school because the family is not well to do to support him, hence, raising the amount to enable him undergo the surgery has become a challenge. “I quit my job because of my deteriorating health making me to struggle to cater for my educational needs. My uncle promised to help me but because of financial difficulties he has not given me a penny yet.” He said.
