42 year old Cynthia Owiredu Mensah is in torment from a tumor ulcer disease which has affected her lungs making her unable to pass excreta.
Mrs. Mensah said doctors feared she could lose her life if she undergoes surgery because her lungs had been badly affected. She said she is in the meantime under Radiotherapy treatment to ease the constipation, pending series of Chemotherapy and surgery.
“When the ailment started I thought it was a lung disorder but it turned out that it was an ulcer tumor after undergoing MRI procedure at the Ridge Hospital. I am in great pain. At the hospital the doctors said they wouldn’t be able to surgically treat it so, instead, they placed me on Radiotherapy.” She told crimecheckghana.
The despaired woman said, she vomits incessantly causing her unbearable pains. She said she is also unable to eat and if that persists for two consecutive days, she would have to go to the hospital for drips.
She said she has already paid medical bills of over Four Thousand Ghana Cedis with the help of her husband but they are now struggling to afford the series of Chemotherapy she would undergo to determine subsequent treatment.
“The doctors asked me to revisit the hospital to undertake Chemotherapy after 5 weeks but they postponed it. A phase of the Chemotherapy would cost Three Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty Six Ghana Cedis. I will be able to pay for the first phase and then wait for support to undergo the subsequent phases. The money is huge and I can’t afford it if you don’t support me. I am hoping that after the Chemotherapy I would be able to pass excreta and urine as told by doctors to make way for the surgery.” She said.
