25 year old Latif Mohammed has been strangely paralyzed for the past seven years. His father struggles to get him medical attention.
According to Latif’s father, Papa Mohammed, though his son was already challenged with walking, it worsened when he came back home after accompanying his mother to work. He said Latif completely got paralyzed in a short period after he took him to the hospital. Mohammed said doctors couldn’t diagnose the cause, so they attributed it to witchcraft.
“I took him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. When the doctor saw my son he said it was spiritual sickness. My son was on a two week scheduled appointment with him but because of his perception about his ailment he did not attend to him. I gave up and brought him back home to look up to God to bring us a helper.” He told crimecheckghana.
The poor cleaner who works at the same hospital said for the past five years he has been unable to take Latif to the hospital because of financial difficulties. He said due to that his son’s condition degenerated and got him bedridden for the past seven years.
“I have taken him to various spiritual centers to get him cure but to no avail. The doctor kept postponing our meeting for a month, so I realized he just did not want to treat him so I stopped going to the hospital. I am able to cater for Latif with support from my relatives and friends. I know of a Chinese hospital and have decided to take him there any moment I get an appreciable amount of money but for now I am stranded.” He said.
The Foundation is appealing to individuals and corporate organizations to support Latif to access proper medical care to get him back on his feet.
