Less than a year old baby, Kennedy Kofi Agyapong is battling for his life as his mother, Juana Asantewaa struggles to foot her medical bills.
According to Asantewaa, Kofi unknowingly poured boiled water on himself when her younger sister whom she left him with was not around him. She said Kofi had his stomach and legs seriously burnt. The distressed lady said Kofi has been crying because of the unbearable pain he experiences. She said though doctors have been treating him, his condition keeps worsening. “They told me that, a tenant left the water she was boiling in the house negligently and my son in his walking adventures got hold of the hot pot and the water poured on him. It happened when I went to work and left him with my younger sister. He is suffering.” She told crimecheckghana.
The poor woman said paying the bills of his son’s medication has been challenging because her second hand clothe vending business is not lucrative. She said her husband who could have supported her also struggles to make ends meet. “I help one of my cousins to sell clothes from which I get some take homes to feed my children. The doctors have asked me to buy 5 times of a drug which cost Sixty Ghana Cedis but I am unable to afford it. I have made several attempts to reach friends and family but I don’t get any positive reply. I was waiting to see if I could get help anywhere until you came.” She said.
Fortunately, Crime Check Foundation, CCF chanced on her at the Accra Regional Hospital and supported her with an amount of One Thousand Six Hundred and Seventy Six Ghana Cedis for her son’s medication and upkeep.
Asantewaa showed her gratitude to CCF and its donors for the support. “God bless you for the support. I was stranded but your support has brought me relief. May God restore what you have lost. Thank you.” She said.
CCF’s Health Check Series is used to seek support for poor individuals who cannot access proper care because of financial difficulties.
