45-year-old blind widow, Vera Asante has lost all hope in life as her landlord threatens to send her packing if she fails to pay her rent.
The blind widow whose rent has been due for some months now is left with no option then to park her belongings and leave the house.
The widow and mother of two is devastated as her mother, who supports her around the house lost her life few days ago.
Narrating her story to Crime Check Foundation (crimecheckghana), Vera said it all started some 15years ago when she noticed reduction in her sight and reported to the hospital where she was diagnosed of Glaucoma.
“I was put on medication to avert the situation but in 2013, I lost my sight completely and that has been my fate” she said amid tears
The mother of two who is poised on seeing her children to the highest ladder in education said, life became very difficult after she lost both sights, so she bought 4 motorbikes to be used for commercial purposes, where she and the children would feed on the proceeds.
“Two weeks after I bought the motorbikes and gave them out, one of the riders ran away with his, another was involved in an accident and the other two haven’t been truthful even though they bring us money from time to time” she noted
According to her, her mother who moved in to help her around the house fell ill few months ago and unfortunately lost her life on Wednesday 26th June 2019.
“I have lost all hope in life, I do not have anybody in life to help me, I have lost my husband, my sights and now my mum, life has not been fair to me” adding that, “I only survived these few days on a GHC200 I saw in my mums mobile money account, I do not know what I will feed on after it is finished” she said.
Vera said, she trained as a caterer so she would like to go into baking but all she needs is a start-up capital and an oven to bake.
Crime Check Foundation is pleading with the general public and all open-handed individuals to come to the aid of this blind widow, she is in dire need of a place to lay her head.
