13 year old Kwadwo Abadu who hails from Jukwa in the Central Region and suffers from cancer has passed away after Crime Check Foundation CCF came to his aid.
The deceased whose father, Alex Badu could not afford accommodation in Accra slept on the streets of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital whiles waiting for a doctor’s appointment.
When crimecheckghana spoke to his father, Mr. Abadu, he said his son’s sickness began with a boil on the neck which worsened with time. He said he took him to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital for treatment but he was later referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
According to him, a doctor at the hospital diagnosed his son of cancer and was told to report two weeks later for treatment. “After thorough check up on Kwadwo, the doctor told me my son has cancer and needs to undergo radiotherapy”. He told crimecheckghana.
Mr. Abadu revealed they could not go back to Cape Coast and come back on the said date because of financial difficulties so they had to sleep on the streets of Korle-Bu while waiting for the day of appointment. “We do not have money for transportation so we sleep on the streets and this is the only place we will be till our appointment is due, so we go and see the doctor”. He said.
CCF supported Kwadwo Abadu with an amount of One thousand and thirty three Ghana cedis to cater for his drugs and food while he awaits surgery.
Unfortunately, Kwadwo has been reported dead a week after CCF came to his aid. The bereaved father said the child suffered seizure of breathe. “I was heartbroken when the nurses told me my son will not survive. I did my best to give him proper education because he was brilliant and even on his sick bed, I left my job so I can be with him”. He said.
CCF supported the family through the child’s burial process with two thousand two hundred Ghana cedis.
Mr. Abadu was grateful to the Foundation for the immense support. “We are so grateful to the donors. God continually bless them so they can be of help to the poor”.
