CCF has deposited an amount of Fifty Two Thousand Ghana Cedis at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to enable Memuna Malik to undergo first phase of correctional surgery

Crime Check Foundation, CCF has made a deposit of Fifty Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (equivalence of 8,965 USD) at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to enable 29 year old acid victim, Memuna Malik to undergo correctional surgery to restore her scarred face.

    29 yr old Memuna Malik

The donation follows Memuna’s sad story in which one lady known as Salomey poured acid on her in Saudi Arabia leaving her face and other parts of her body deformed. With the help of philanthropists, Memuna returned home to Ghana but only to live in bitterness. In an interview with crimecheckghana, poor Memuna said she has been living in dejection as children and adults alike make mockery of her scary face. “One day my mother wasn’t well so I decided to wash her clothes and go dry them outside. As I was drying the things, two children who were standing by were having a conversation and one told the other that my face is really scary and looks like a monster. Upon hearing that I became very sad and felt I was no more part of human beings”. She said as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Though the young lady has undergone 3 major surgeries in Saudi Arabia where the unfortunate incident befell her, she still has to be moving about with a scarf to veil her face from the sight of people at all times. She said she has had several thoughts of killing herself because she has no hope of recovering. “I have wished severally that I kill myself because even the people around me sometimes say if this had happened to them they would have killed themselves but since I didn’t die after the surgeries, I knew God needs me alive.” Memuna said weeping.

After Crime Check Foundation, CCF aired the interview to solicit support for her, its donors supported her with an amount of Fifty Two Thousand Ghana Cedis which doctors had demanded to enable Ms. Malik undergo the first phase of facial surgery which will involve restoring her burnt nose and lifting of her right eye.

CCF is further appealing to individuals and organizations to extend their benevolent support to help Memuna complete the other three phases of the surgery.

The Foundation’s Health Check Series is used to solicit support for poor individuals to access health care which they are usually unable to access because of poverty.
