Inmates at the Winneba Local Prison have been given a Christmas treat to some delicious meals to mark the yuletide.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) sponsored and organized the event in the prison facility to show love to the inmates.
The inmates were treated to a buffet of delicious delicacies including assorted rice dishes, fufu, banku alongside some fizzy drinks.
It is an annual initiative to give the inmates a sense of belonging and not feel deserted by the world.
The inmates numbered two hundred with a hundred officers also taking turns to enjoy the dishes.
The Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation (CCF) indicated that the feast is part of the initiatives aimed at rehabilitating inmates with the touch of love as affirmed by the word of God.
“We are charged by our teachings to visit those in prison and not to neglect them. This will give the inmates an impression of love and not see themselves as outcasts,” he indicated.
The Officer-In-Charge of the Winneba Local Prison, ADP Joseph Nyantey was full of praise to CCF and Madam Cynthia Agyarko for putting smiles on the faces of the inmates and officers.
“We are very happy and grateful for this food. For a long time, we have never witnessed this before. I want to thank CCF and Madam Cynthia Agyarko for this feast. This will create lasting memories in the inmates and give them hope that they have not been abandoned,” he said.
After enjoying his meal, an inmate expressed the joy he found from getting to be remembered and dining with officers and staff of CCF.
“CCF has exacted what our teachings ask us to do; to visit prisoners and to care for them. God bless them,” he prayed.
