A Senior High School graduate has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for threatening to kill his mother.
Arhinful John was jailed at the Winneba Local Prison.
The young man said he threatened to kill his mother when she gave him up despite asking her not to reveal to his father that he stole his cocoa beans.
Speaking to crimecheckghana.org, the 23-year-old man said he constantly hurled insults at his mother and threatened to assault her.
โUnder the influence of drugs addict so I always abuse my mother and even sometimes threaten to assault her,โ he confessed.
John says he refuses to go to the farm with his father so he was not allowed to benefit from the harvest.
However, when the cocoa beans were dried in the sun, the convict clandestinely fetched some of the beans.
Unlucky for him, his mother saw him leaving him with no option but to threaten his mother with death if she exposed him. This led to his arrest.
He was fined Ghc 1,200 which he defaulted leading to his imprisonment.
Crime Check Foundation through the donation of an anonymous philanthropy paid his fine for his release as part of the Foundationโs Petty Offenders project.
