A UK women’s empowerment group, TELL IT MOMS have donated an amount of one thousand five hundred pounds to the Nsawam Orthopedic Training Centre for the purchase of five prosthetic legs for four children. The donation is in response to an appeal by Crime Check Foundation, CCF, the public to support disabled children at the center neglected by their parents. The plight of children at the center moved most Ghanaians to tears after crimecheckghana shared a story about the large number of neglected children suffering from one form of disability or the other.
It also revealed how some of these children have been stigmatized by their parents who have swore to have nothing to do with their own children because of their disability. Touched by the predicaments of the kids, TELL IT MOMS said they were devastated by the news. “It is not the fault of these lids to carry disability. Rather than shun them, the innocent children deserve love, care and attention”. The group said in a statement.
The women’s empowerment group, numbering about ninety continues to support the poor, voiceless and the vulnerable in many communities across Ghana. The group says it will continue to support kids at the Nsawam Orthopedic Centre. It urged parents with disabled kids to shed misconception associated with such children and show them more love and care.
