The Officer-In-Charge of Health at the Awutu Camp Prison, ASP Charity Adede Ocansey has advised the general public, especially security officers to add health check-ups to their schedules and expenses.
According to the Prisons officer who is also a Physician Assistant, it is worrying that women have time for other pertinent issues but do not take their health into consideration.
“You have time to go for funerals, parties, and church but it becomes difficult to make time for hospital. You are able to channel your resources into other events of life but hardly you save money for your health, “ she observed.
ASP Ocansey said this during a breast cancer sensitization and screening exercise at the Awutu Camp Prison.
The exercise was under the auspices of Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF).
MBCF is championing early detection to save lives campaign all year round to help reduce breast cancer-related deaths.
ASP Charity Adede Ocansey asked women to be wary about changes in their bodies and report to health facilities immediately before it becomes late.
At least forty-eight prison officers were screened for breast cancer out of which two women were identified to have lumps in their breasts.
Meena Breast Cancer Foundation is visiting communities, schools, religious institutions, and other bodies as part of its campaign.
So far approximately ten thousand women have been engaged since its establishment a year ago, its Executive Director Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng has stated.
MBCF was established to give support to breast cancer patients to get proper medical care.
