A lawyer has sued the Attorney General, the Ghana Police Service, and Inspector Clement Suputour Ghc 15 million in damages over the chopping off the ear of a pregnant lady by Suputour.
It will be recalled that in early, 2024, crimecheckghana.org broke the news of a young lady, Judith Yaa Kumah who suffered the brutal handling by an officer of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service, Inspector Clement Suputour after cutting her ear off in a bid to force-out information from her during interrogation.
The lawyer defending Judith, Andrew Ghartey in his statement of claim is suing the defendants for false accusation, chopping off the ear, and clandestinely orchestrating the prosecution of Judith without basis among other things in damages of Ghc 15 million altogether.
“An order for general damages of Ghc 6,000,000 for the various human rights infringements occasioned the Plaintiff by the defendants. Ghc 3,000,000 for the false arrest, assault, and battery of the Plaintiff, general damages of Ghc 3,000,000 for negligence, and Ghc 3,000,000 for various breaches of the Plaintiff’s fundamental human rights, as well as tortious acts against the Plaintiff,” part of the writ copied to crimecheckghana.org read.
The mother of the plaintiff has told crimecheckghana.org it is good news but not until she gets justice for her daughter who was pregnant at the time Suputour maimed her, she is not excited.
According to her, the case has been dismissed because Suputour and the Ghana Police Service couldn’t provide evidence and did not appear in court for proceedings.
“The case was dragging on for too long because Suputour couldn’t provide a video footage he claimed he had against my daughter. The judge was unhappy about it so on August 1, 2024, she dismissed the case,” she said.

Clement Suputour, a CID officer at the Tema Community 2 Police Station, caged the plaintiff, Judith Yaa Kumah when she went there to visit her boyfriend who was also behind bars over a suspected robbery case,
Upon reaching the police station and asking to see her boyfriend, Mr. Suputour held her at the police station accusing her of being her boyfriend’s accomplice.
During interrogation, Suputuor who felt Judith was not truthful about her involvement in crimes with her boyfriend chopped off of her left ear with a paper clipper.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) intervened and put the spotlight on the matter as Inspector Suputour blatantly disregarded the laws and ethics of his profession.
The intervention by CCF led to the call for justice for Judith, which saw Lawyer Andrew Ghartey offering to represent the young lady in court pro bono.
