The Minister for the Interior Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak has visited the Ghana Prisons Service as part of his familiarization tour of agencies under the ministry upon assumption of office.
At a durbar with officers at the Headquarters in Accra, the minister sought to find out challenges affecting the service and the way forward.
After the inspection of the prison’s guard of honour, the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak, and his team held a closed-door meeting with the Prison Directorate and Officers.
Discussions focused on key issues and challenges facing the service.
The engagement also deepened the working relationship between the Ministry and its officers, emphasizing collaboration for public safety and security.
The Director General of Prisons, Mr. Isaac Egyir, was hopeful that the interaction would yield positive results.
The Minister Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak pledged to ensure that the Service is well-resourced and supported.
The minister emphasized the role of the Ghana Prisons Service in national development and said the meeting marks the beginning of deeper collaboration to enhance public safety and security in the country.
