An inmate at Cape Coast Prison, Emmanuel Ofori, who was sentenced to 10 months in prison, has been freed after his two hundred& forty Ghana Cedis (₵240.00) fine was paid by Black Stars& Newcastle midfielder, Christian Atsu.
Emmanuel told crimecheck ghana that he took the fetish stick because it had been discarded so he thought the owner had no use of it. He said he was therefore shocked when he was subsequently arrested and jailed for ten months. He has however thanked Christian Atsu for paying for his release and Crime Check Foundation for facilitating his release and that of other inmates who have committed petty offences.
Emmanuel’s release brings to forty three (43) the number of petty offenders whose court fines have been paid by the Black Stars and Newcastle midfielder.
