A tiler has been wailing over his incarceration for standing firm against the sale of his land at Amasaman in Accra to some Nigerians.
According to Nii, the land that was bequeathed to him by his mother was sold to foreigners without his notice.
The 44-year-old man said when he angrily moved to demolish a project, which the Nigerians had begun on the land. This he said was after he confronted his aunty who he claimed sold out the land (not up to a quarter plot).
“I was at Sege working when my friends called to inform me that my land had been sold out. I quickly moved to Amasaman and destroyed the building, which was at the window level. I used a ledge,” he told crimecheckghana.org.
Nii said his aunty, knowing she was wrong instead reported him to the police claiming he stole her money.
The father of three was charged with stealing and sentenced to eighteen months in default of a court fine of Ghc 2,400.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) through its Petty Offenders project paid his fine for his release when it visited him at the James Camp Prison in Accra.
Nii’s release was made possible through the generous contribution of members of AKB Spiritual School, an online prayer group.
CCF’s Petty Offenders project continues to restore hope to the outcast.
