It has been twelve days since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Middle Eastern country, Turkey.
Families have been counting their losses as many continue to look for the corpse of their dead relatives, but for Ghanaians, it is the whereabouts of Christian Atsu, a former Black Stars player.
Since the tragic incident on Monday, February 6, 2023, there have been contradictory news about the player’s safety.
Crime Check TV GH has been giving updates on rescue efforts to find the player.
Latest information gathered by the online TV from Atsu’s club, Hatayspor suggests that he managed to get out of the first earthquake at 4:17 am on February 6, 2023, because he had not slept around that time.
He later ran to the parking garage to get his car out and it was during that period (20 minutes later) that the Renaissance building totally collapsed following the second earthquake.
A section of the public believes that he may have slipped in between when the building was tilted.
Or presumably, he got affected while driving to a safer place in the middle of the road during the second earthquake
Atsu’s manager UzunMehmet confirmed the information during an interview with Turkish media
“Rescue teams first focused on the parking lot because CCTV footage captured him over there. They hoped but it was empty. They then focused on A1 block of the building but found 10 corpses. No Atsu. Only his pair of sneakers“
This update has been met with mixed reactions after Crime Check TV GH published the story.
Some say they have dreamt about the player telling them he is safe thus keeping hope alive.
Others are not optimistic about the player’s survival.

I still believe he’s not dead. I had a dream last night and it was like, he’s alive and much well so I saw again a cloud of Peoples around him wearing white uniforms celebrating, singing joyful song. But one thing is he was the only person among us wearing black top and red cloth used to cover his neck. I’m praying the Lord Almighty will locate and rescue from wherever he’s

I feel his wife or housemates could help rescuers find him by giving detailed information about his nighttime and early morning routines. For example; some people leave home at 5:15am to the gym and return back home at 6:00 am .. knowing more about his routine could help figure out whereabouts he could have been at the time of the earthquake.. maybe he went to drive his car out to a place he usually frequents around that time…I’m just soo worried about his disappearance.. it’s heartbreaking.
