The Police in Gbawe have arrested the leader of an alleged wee gang, popularly known as Razak at Mallam in Accra for nearly lynching a woman.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) facilitated the arrest after the brutally assaulted victim, Rebecca Martey informed the organization about the incident.
The victim has been left visibly assaulted with swellings on her face and agonizing abdominal pains, she said.
According to the mother of two, the suspect pitilessly pounced on her kicking her to the ground when she asked why a plastic chair had been used by the suspect to block a path leading to her house.
Rebecca who sells around the environs of McCarthy along the Mallam-Kasoa highway told crimecheckghana.org that members of the wee gang subjected her to unsavory insults which forced her to invoke a curse on them and provoking the assault on her.
“They summoned me to the stool of Gbawe for desecrating the period of observing the Homowo by the curse ignoring the harm they have caused me,” she said.
Rebecca indicated that while Razak assaulted her, the suspect boldly claimed that he was above the law and could not be arrested because the police officers were on his payroll.
This revelation led Crime Check Foundation to intervene to ensure Razak was detained to face the law.
Rebecca, a soya kebab vendor is unable to seek medical care because of financial difficulties.
CCF is seeking to challenge the Gbawe stool authorities on legal grounds to get justice for the young woman.
Razak has, however, been granted bail but CCF wishes to meet him in court and pay for damages.
