The cause of death of 24-year-old KNUST graduate, Lois Abena Koranteng who died mysteriously at the Chris Lord Palace Hotel in Takoradi has been revealed.
The cause of death was revealed in a statement released by the Ghana Police Service, on July 11, 2024, which also contained an apology from the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Akuffo-Dampare to the deceased’s family.
According to the statement, a pathologist said Lois died from strangling and drowning.
“… an autopsy was conducted on the 8th June 2024, in the presence of the deceased family by a pathologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who gave the verbal cause of death as Asphyxia, severe pulmonary edema, and drowning in pool.”
The family of the deceased, one month after the demise of their beloved has been demanding justice for the deceased blaming the police for delayed investigations into the matter.
The IGP in the statement, apologized to the family who expressed dissatisfaction regarding the extent of Police engagement with them on the matter.
“… the Inspector-General of Police yesterday, 10th July 2024, reached out to the family via telephone call and rendered an unqualified apology to them for the lack of sufficient Police engagement,” portion of the statement read.
The IGP assured the family that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing and also promised to meet them to update them on the investigations done so far.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) urges the Police to expedite their investigations and ensure justice.
