Nine students of Ahantaman Girls Senior High School in the Western Region have been referred to medical facilities for advanced investigations to confirm their breast cancer status.
The Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) team triggered the referral after the students exhibited suspected signs of the disease.
The students were identified with suspected cancerous lumps during a screening exercise the MBCF team conducted for staff and students of the institution.
They were identified out of a total of 373 students who participated in the exercise.
After issuing the referral chits, the Foundation’s team encouraged them to remain calm.
The school’s authority was notified about the condition of the affected students and urged them to take immediate action to help them.
Ahantaman Girls SHS is part of the almost 50 schools the Foundation has visited across the country.
Meena Breast Cancer Foundation is fighting breast cancer all year round.
