The Mpraeso Circuit Court has sentenced a 23-year-old barber, Kwame Amponsah to One Hundred and Fourteen years imprisonment for sodomizing twelve pupils at Atewase, a suburb of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality.
Mr. Fayi said although it only had initial reports from two boys who confided in the officers about their ordeal during a community engagement, ten others later came out to narrate theirs.
“From there we had to take him to DOVVSU which is part of the Ghana Police Service so interrogation started and the guy was reminded for seven days,” he said
He said with support from Assembly Members and opinion leaders, the barber was arrested and arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit court Monday, November 15, 2021.
.He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 114 years imprisonment.
Per information gathered, the judge ruled that Amponsah should serve ten years each for the ten kids.
The judge further ruled that Kwame Amponsah should serve seven years each for the two school children.
The judge however urged him to appeal his sentences if he wishes.
The Assemblyman for the area, Sampson Sarfo expressed shock over the incident adding it is the first of such incidents in the area that has come to his notice.
He indicated that parents will be engaged frequently to monitor their children to avoid future occurrences.
