Linda Amewu, the daughter of Grace Amewu a 63 year old breast cancer patient had lost all hope to access quality health care for her mother and continue her education.
She completed Senior High School with good grades with the intention to further her education in nursing but the unfortunate illness of her mother compelled her to spend her savings on her medical bills and upkeep. This has delayed her education.
Linda told crimecheckghana that her salary from a cleaning job is too small to cater for her mother, “My mother complained of breast pains when she was recovering from her ailment. When she was sent to the hospital, the doctors realized that she has breast cancer. “But I am not in the position to help my ailing mother” she said.
“Life became unbearable for us so we had to move into a kiosk to cut down on our expenses”, she said amid tears. She further disclosed that her father is in the morgue and she had no one to turn to for help.
After crimecheckghana shared her story, the women’s wing of the Pilgrim Christian Ministries International, based in Italy assisted Madam Grace Amewu with an amount of one thousand and seven hundred cedis (₵1,700) to cater for her medical bills.
Crime Check Foundation is calling on all Ghanaians to come to the aid of this widow for further treatment.
