A level 200 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), 25-year-old Nana Kwame Adugyamfi has been murdered at Sewua in the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, his friend Emmanuel Boateng murdered him after he demanded monies owed him.
Boateng told police that he owed the deceased some money, which the deceased demanded he paid him to enable him to prepare for school.
He claimed he was unable to raise the money and therefore had to kill him.
In events leading to the gruesome act, the suspect is said to have lured the deceased to where he was murdered under the pretext that he had to take pictures of a plot of land his mother had bought.
The deceased accompanied him to the place to take the pictures and when they got to the crime scene, the suspect excused the deceased that he was attending nature’s call, and asked the deceased to sit and wait for him. Whilst the deceased sat and was unsuspectingly making a call, the suspect picked a stick, which he had hidden in the bush, and struck the deceased’s neck.
The deceased fell and fainted and the suspect picked up the deceased’s phone and abandoned him.
Unluckily for the suspect, some neighbours saw the suspect with the deceased and informed the police when they realized the deceased never returned.
The suspect confessed to the crime after he was picked up and interrogated.
The police retrieved the deceased’s iPhone 11 from the suspect’s room.
Speaking on the incident, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the media “a tailor apprentice who is connected with the murder of Kwaku Adugyamfi Twenty-five-year-old Emmanuel Boateng has been arrested and assisting the police investigation.”
Other reports also indicate that the suspect envied the deceased because he owned an iPhone as information is circulated that the deceased was an outgoing type who usually shared photos and videos he took with his iPhone on social media.
The continuous display of the iPhone did not sit well with some of his friends who envied him and devised ways to take his life away from him.
The deceased father, Yaw Adugyamfi, had confirmed that his son was killed because he had flaunted the latest iPhone.
Kwaku Adugyamfi was a Biological Science student.
