A brave female Police officer at the Tetegu police station in Accra has overpowered a thief, Stanley Sarfo who broke jail and took to his heels.
Information from the Ghana Police Service indicates that Sarfo, 26, was arrested and brought to the Tetegu Police station on February 12, 2021, over two stealing cases.
The suspect was said to have been locked in the charge office but was able to open the office’s burglar-proof and took to his heels.
Police Officer Constable Abigail Nkrumah who was manning the counter on the day upon realizing that Stanley had broken jail gave him a hot chase and overpowered him.
Upon his rearrest, he assaulted the female Police Officer but she did not let her guard down with the help of some community members she arrested Stanley and brought him back to the station.
The female Officer after the arrest was issued with a medical form to go for treatment at the hospital.
The suspected thief, Sarfo’s caution statement was obtained as police continue investigation.
In other news, a trader believed to be in his early thirties, Abdul Jalil has been killed in a suspected robbery attack around the Kaladan barracks area in the Tamale Metropolis.
According to the Police, the deceased and a pillion rider were returning from his store between the hours of seven and eight when he was attacked.
Northern Regional Crime Officer, Bernard Baba Ananga, said some unknown persons on unregistered motorbike trailed the deceased when he closed from the shop where he sells motorbikes and other merchandise.
He said noticing that he was being followed he stopped and decided to run to seek refuge but the assailant followed and demanded he hands over the money he was carrying.
Superintendent Ananga said when he said he did not have money with him, he was shot, adding that he died when he was being transported to the hospital.
