UThe Winneba Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 24-year unemployed man to a one year jail term for unlawful entry and and possessing instruments intended for unlawful purpose on a premises.
The Court presided over by Mr.Isaac Oheneba- Kufour, convicted Shaibu Suleman, who pleaded guilty to the charges on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Detective Police Inspector Mrs. Bernice Wie told the court that the complainant, Ms. Theodora Osei-wusu lives in a fenced house at Gyeteykrom near Winneba, while Suleman also lives at Dwenwoho a suburb of Agona Swedru.
The Prosecution said on April 14, this year at about 0920 hours, while the complainant was busily cooking in the kitchen, she saw the accused person with a bag at his back on the compound of her house spying through the kitchen window.
According to the prosecution, fear gripped Ms. Osei-wusu because the main entrance to the house was secured and her shouts to inquire Shaibu’s mission in her house attracted a cabbie to the scene but Suleman scaled the fence wall of the house and escaped.
The complainant then informed some people in the area and gave them vivid description of the accused person, so not long after, the cabbie spotted Suleman at Winneba Junction based on that description and rushed to Ms. Osei-wusu’s house to inform her.
The prosecution said the lady accompanied the witness to where he spotted Suleman and he was arrested and sent to the Winneba Police station where when his bag was searched, a car jack, a pair of pliers and a screw driver was found.
The Prosecution said during interrogation Suleman admitted that he went to the house to steal and pleaded for forgiveness.
