26-year-old physically challenged farmer, Rafia Yusif will no longer drag herself to farm as Crime Check Foundation, CCF has presented a new motor tricycle to her to ease her movements.
With determination, Miss Yusif had to defy all odds to venture into farming which according to her is to enable her fund her education and also cater for her unemployed siblings.
“I decided to go into farming because I don’t want to be dependent on society and individuals. It is also to enable me cater for my education and other needs. The district Social Welfare Department has been supporting me pay my fees but they can’t provide all my needs so the proceeds that I will get from my farm would be used to fund my education.” She told crimecheckghana.
Miss Yusif used to struggle to go to her farm which is five miles away from her home in a rickety man-powered tricycle which she said was one of her greatest challenges.
“The tricycle I was using limited my movement. I would like to appeal to benevolent organizations and individuals to support me get a motorbike to ease my movement. I believe that I can also do what abled persons do. Success is the best revenge.” She encouraged herself.
After Crime Check Foundation, CCF aired her story, its donors contributed to the tune of Five Thousand Six Hundred and Thirty-Eight Ghana Cedis which was used to buy a new motorbike modified into a tricycle for her. It was a dream come true for Yusif.
She couldn’t hide her joy as she thanked CCF and the contributors for the support. “I am happy to have such a great gift from Crime Check Foundation. I will now have access to my farm and the market without any difficulty. I thank CCF for coming to my aid. May God bless the contributors and prosper their businesses.” She said amid smiles.
Her father who did not come to terms with her condition after failed attempts to get help for her daughter, praised CCF for the kind gesture.
“I now understand how God works. My daughter wasn’t born disabled so it was a big worry for me but seeing her do what others can’t do gives me hope that one day better things would come her way”. He said.
CCF is appealing to the public to support Miss Yusif to get a mini-container shop to enable her expand her beads business.
The Foundation’s Village Charity Series is used to seek support for struggling village dwellers.
