59 year old Theresah Onuro has been abandoned by her husband, making her to struggle to fend for her seven children.
Mrs. Onuro said her husband deserted her after she requested for her share of their farm produce after a fruitful farming season. She told crimecheckghana that her husband ignored her after he had given a portion to him and she was hoping to receive hers as custom demanded. The poor woman said for the sake of the children she insisted that her part be used to fund their children’s education which angered her spouse so he left her for another woman. “Customarily, my husband should have given me part of the farm produce so that I can sell to buy my needs but he refused. He left the house but came after sometime and drove me and the children out of the house.” She said.
The despaired woman said because of financial difficulties she left the city for the village leaving behind the children who had to strive to survive in the city by themselves. She said her stay in the village was marred by hardship so she returned to the city to live with her children after her efforts to establish a fish business failed. “I was able to start a fish business but it collapsed because I did with little capital. My elderly son had to forgo his education after his father neglected them. He has been able to rent a room in the city through the petty jobs he does and I have come to add on to the other siblings who are living with him. If he comes home empty-handed, then we have to sleep on empty stomach for that day.” She said.
Crime Check Foundation CCF, with support from one of its US based group donors, Executive Ladies gave the poor woman Five Hundred Ghana Cedis for her upkeep.
CCF is appealing to generous individuals to support the woman to get an established business to enable her cater for her children.
The Foundation’s Charity Series is used to solicit support for starving individuals to improve their livelihood.
