Maame Tenewaa has been in and out of the Kumasi Female Prison a couple of times. She is usually jailed for smoking cannabis or convicted for stealing. She tells Crimecheck Ghana that she is usually induced to steal after smoking weed, which she says she was introduced to by her boyfriend. But after her recent release from prison, facilitated by Crime Check Foundation, Tenewaa says she has had enough of prison life. “What worries me most is the fingers pointing my children are subjected to everyday”, she said.
“I have done whatever within my means to stop taking cannabis, but it has been difficult for me. I need help”. She said to crimecheck ghana.
Tenewaa believes lack of a job usually makes her idle, hence pushes her into smoking weed. She says all she wants is a little capital to sell boiled eggs. She is therefore appealing to Ghanaians to support her with money to start her eggs business.
