Luck has smiled on Alice Bonye, an ex-convict as Crime Check Foundation gives her a laptop to aid her learning in a Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
Miss Bonye, a dismissed 2nd year student nurse had revealed to crimecheckghana in an interview that she had gone through numerous financial challenges as a student nurse which made it difficult for her to pay her fees and buy the needed books and other basic necessities because of her poor family background.
The situation she said forced her to steal an amount of one thousand, two hundred Ghana cedis from a nurse to pay her fees and had to end up in prison for six months.
“I couldn’t pay my fees nor buy the needed textbooks in school. My dad, a poor watchman and my mum, a petty trader are still in debt because of my education, but their efforts were still not enough to save me from the persistent embarrassment I went through in school. I want to enroll in a private nursing institution if I should get the needed help”. She told crimecheckghana.
A policeman, who wants to remain anonymous, after hearing the story of Alice Bonye, enrolled her in a private nursing institution by paying her fees of five thousand Ghana cedis.
In addition to this, CCF donors, a man in the U. S who pleaded anonymity and a women’s group, Ladies of Action has donated a laptop and an amount of five hundred Ghana cedis respectively to her.
An elated Alice could not hide her tears of joy, “God richly bless you for the laptop. I was always wondering how I will get a laptop to do my case study when I get to level 300. Indeed I am so grateful to God and the donors for this kindness”.
The CCF Educational Support Scheme is aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students who find it difficult to pay their school fees because of financial challenges.
