51 year old Madam Hawa Issaka who was involved in an accident in 2017 runs to Crime Check Foundation for health support.
The 51 year old woman who used to sell foodstuffs at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana, tells crimecheckghana about a painful tragedy she still has not recovered. “I was on my way to go and buy foodstuffs to come and sell so I can cater for my family. All I could see was that our vehicle had run into a big track ahead of us. I didn’t see anything that went on afterwards until the next morning when I woke up in a hospital bed in Tarkwa.” She said.
Pale looking Madam Issaka said she felt even more miserable and hopeless when doctors later told her the damage that has been caused in her left leg as a result of the car accident. “The doctor told me that my leg bone has been broken into four pieces and therefore need a surgery to fix it. I cried the whole day and couldn’t even take water because I knew I didn’t have the amount of money the doctor mentioned for the surgery”. Madam Hawa added.
The troubled woman said her husband who has been suffering from high blood pressure since 2016 was also bedridden and couldn’t support her in anyway. Besides her children are young and cannot also help her. Realizing there was no support from anyone, the poor woman said she had to sell her three bedroom house at a very cheap price and further sold all her valuables to meet the target amount of money for the surgery.
That money, she said, could only fix two bones, leaving two more bones to be fixed to enable her stand on her feet. Life, according to her has become unbearable for her and her family as her husband is bedridden and her children have dropped out of school. She said she will need an amount of nine thousand six hundred and four Ghana cedis to undergo the second surgery.
Madam Hawa Issaka is therefore pleading with the public to come to her aid to save her legs. “I’m begging everyone who sees my story to kindly come to my aid by supporting me with the said amount to undergo this surgery. I believe if I am able to stand on my feet, I can labour to cater for my family so please help me to save my family”. She said amid sobs.
Crime Check Foundation’s Health Check Series aims at supporting individuals who need medical assistance but are financially handicapped. The project, with the support of donors has saved the lives of many poor and underprivileged Ghanaians who cannot afford the cost of medical care.
