The Ghana Police Service has announced that the Chief Executive Officer of NexGen Infranco has been found.
Mr. Tony Mintah was pronounced missing by the Police some hours ago, and the Service was investigating his whereabouts.
According to the Police, Mr. Tony Mintah was allegedly “taken away by unidentified individuals from the premises of the National Communication Authority (NIA)” in Accra urging the public to report relevant information to a designated telephone number.
After about three hours, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement announcing that Mr. Mintah had been found and that details would be provided in due course.
It will be recalled that in June 2024 government said it has taken a significant step towards achieving a fully digitised country by 2030 through a special purpose vehicle licensed to roll out 5G mobile broadband by the end of the year. NexGen Infrastructure Company was awarded the contract which was opposed by the Minority in Parliament arguing that the contract was fraudulent.
NGIC, a new shared infrastructure company, co-promoted by the government and private sector technology solutions entities – Ascend Digital and K-NET, will make an initial investment of about $200 million into building a nationwide 4G/5G network.
