Georgina Holom, the ex-girlfriend of Kwabena Osei, the 22-year-old boy who was burnt to death together with one Princess Ahiatey, has pleaded guilty to the crime.
She pleaded guilty when she appeared before the Ofaakor Circuit Court at Kasoa on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
20-year-old Georgina, a nursing mother was arrested after she was captured by a CCTV installed in a shop near the house where the incident happened.
The CCTV footage led police to conduct a search in her room where they retrieved a facemask, which created more room for suspicion of committing the crime.
According to sources, Georgina initially denied but after the facemask was found in her bag, she later admitted to the crime during police interrogation.
The case has been adjourned to Monday, 21st October 2024 for a ruling.
According to the father of Kwabena Osei, the suspect said she informed her mother after she committed the crime.
Initial reports indicated that the friends of Kwabena Osei carried out the crime because the deceased refused to give them a share of Ghc 190,000 earned through fraudulent means.
However, new information available to the desk of crimecheckghana.org indicates that Georgina carried out the dastardly act out of jealousy and that Kwabena Osei and Georgina Holom were lovers from Junior High School until their entry into Senior High School. Georgina however met a new lover and got pregnant while in school.
Kwabena Osei then called it quits indicating that he could not date a lady with a child and went ahead to date Georgina’s close friend, Princess Ahiatey.
All this while Georgina had been unhappy with Kwabena’s decision though she still benefited from the ‘benevolence’ of the young man.
Disgruntled by Kwabena’s decision, the jealous lady doused the house of Kwabena with petrol when Princess had visited him and lit it up in flames leading to the tragic deaths of the young lovers.
