Twenty-five (25) suspected cases of breast cancer have been recorded among Senior High School students in the Volta Region.
The cases were recorded when Meena Breast Cancer Foundation (MBCF) organized a breast cancer sensitization and screening exercise for staff and students of five (5) second-cycle institutions in the region.
The schools are Ziavi, Shia, and Sokode Secondary Technical Schools. Others are the Tanyigbe and Taviefe Senior High Schools.
A total of one thousand, one hundred and sixteen students and staff of the five schools underwent the exercise.
Out of the 25 suspected cases, 4 affected students were from Ziavi SHTS, 4, were also from Shia SHTS, and 6, from Sokode SHTS.
The rest had 6 identified at Taviefe and 7 at Tanyigbe Senior High Schools.
The exercise was the first of its kind organized in a mass nature.
